Since we had quite the “non-traditional” wedding it was covered by the local newspaper on the front page!!!
Here is the link...
Every week I meet with one-on-one’s with different students that want to go deeper in the Lord. Above is Sarah, from New Hampshire. We are walking through the book Just Like Jesus - by Max Lucado together. We have discussed topics such as:
*What if Jesus took over our bodies for a day... would anyone notice?
*Learning how to love those who are tough to love.
*How to have a compassionate heart, and use our hands to touch other’s lives as Jesus would.
*How to have a devotional life.
*Learning to listen to the Holy Spirit.

There are some great topics in this book that is why I have chosen it to use for discipleship. I look forward to the coming week with my students before the winter break.

These one-on-ones are some of my favorite times of my job. I really get to see how God is working in the lives of my students. I get to really know them and they me. I try to be as transparent as possible so that they can see God’s hand in my life.

Waiting....

On September 26th I was asked to preach for the next English service at my church on October 31st. I immediately started praying for the Lord to give me a theme to talk about. Within about 2 days or so I felt like he wanted me to teach about “Waiting”.

Have you ever heard the sayings......?
Where the rubber meets the road.
or
Practice what you preach.

Well the Lord has a fantastic sense of humor and the most amazing timing of anyone I know. When he told me to preach on this I had no idea that the month of October for me would be one giant waiting game.

When I was praying about exactly what he wanted me to say, the very first thing he said to me was, “preach a sermon you would like to hear”. Practical right? Of course it’s God’s idea!

He knows the beginning from the end and he was and is preparing me to speak from the heart to the group that will be there on the 31st. I am looking forward to speaking to them, but now feel less prepared than ever. How can I teach on something that I dont even have down? ... But actually, that is the perfect place to preach from, real life.

So this is life, real life, and sometimes it involves waiting. God is there in the waiting, if we allow him to, he gives us peace and grace to wait. He also gives us the ability to serve and worship him. To God be the glory in the waiting, and may we learn to make the most of every opportunity in the in between.

As we wait, we can see beauty and discover more of who our incredible father is and how much he does truly love us. And as each moment passes in grace the picture becomes clearer until we can see him in what we are waiting for.

“Taking a step of faith to first study abroad was big for me. I knew I would be placed in an environment where I would be challenged and changed, but God did even more than that. When I got to Sevilla, I knew this was a time for me to be changed from the inside out and to open my heart up to the love of God like never before because I was away from everything I was comfortable to and everything I knew. I was being challenged and I wanted to be challenged even more spiritually and see what God could do. I wanted to trust God with something I wasn't sure I could do. That is the God we serve, a God who continually asks us to trust Him with the impossible, because He makes it possible. I ended up co-leading a bible study at the Universidad de Sevilla. It was an incredible step of faith that God blessed. I got to be a part of an awesome community of believers that challenged me and pointed me to Christ. I learned a ton by leading during my semester abroad and things I learned are still with my today and changing my life. We serve a God full of grace and truth and He is asking you and me every day to let go ourselves and take hold of Him. He has so much in store for us, a perfect plan and we get to be a part of that. Acts 1:8: "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." We are His witnesses no matter where we are, at home or in a different country. Getting more involved with the ministry that is happening in Sevilla was a blessing and something I am so thankful I did. Isaiah 6:8: "Then I heard the voice of the LORD saying, whom shall I send and who will go for us? And so I said, Here am I, send me!"”
New Adventure: Worship Leader

On September 26th my church in Seville (Centro Cristiano Tiro de Linea) will be beginning a once a month English worship service for those that speak English.

I have never lead worship before for a congregation. This will be interesting. I also have never sung into a mic other than just joking around. I did take voice lessons years ago, but I doubt those stuck with me. I am really glad that we are starting with only once a month that way I can work myself into it.

I am excited about this new adventure. Its one I never pictured myself doing. But as I look back over my life as a Christian there were a couple of times I can remember when people prayed things over me or gave me a prophetic words that were about singing or leading worship. I am excited for this opportunity!

If the English service is a hit then we will start doing it twice a month and who knows maybe eventually it will be every week. As far as I know Sevilla does not have an English speaking congregation as of right now. This is a great opportunity to reach out to a community here in Sevilla that does not normally go to church due to the language barrier.

Its always good to learn the language of the land you are in but there are some things you only want to do in your native tongue.... and two of those are WORSHIP & PRAYER!

Pray for us as we embark on this new journey and as I begin this new adventure.
